From Mauritius to international podiums<\/h2>\n\n

R\u00e9mi grew up in Mauritius<\/strong>, where his father was national technical director of the judo team. He grew up in the world of judo and moved to France at the age of 7<\/strong>. He has since obtained dual nationality and trains at the JC Villiers le Bel<\/a><\/strong> since 2012. He naturally joined the club where his father Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric was coach. He notably trained Messie Katanga<\/strong> and Samah Hawa Camara<\/strong> (world youth medallists in 2013 and 2014). <\/p>\n\n

This high-quality environment enabled R\u00e9mi Feuillet to progress and quickly reach the top level. He entered the big leagues with national competitions, winning a tournament in Trappes and one in Laval <\/strong>in 2013 and 2016. These tournaments prepare him for a more important competition, the French 1st division championships<\/strong> in 2018, where he reaches the quarter-finals. <\/p>\n\n

Still attached to his childhood country, he represents it in international competitions. R\u00e9mi Feuillet finished 3rd at the African Games<\/strong> in 2019 and twice won bronze in the -90kg category at the African Championships<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

The Olympic Games <\/h2>\n\n

After shining in the African competitions, R\u00e9mi set himself the goal of taking part in the Tokyo Olympic<\/strong> Games. For an athlete from Mauritius ranked around 50th in theIJF<\/a> rankings, this was a difficult task, but now it’s a reality. <\/p>\n\n

Indeed, following a very fine performance at the Budapest Worlds<\/strong> in June. R\u00e9mi takes 7th place<\/strong> and an almost unhoped-for ticket to the Olympic Games. <\/p>\n\n

Unfortunately, the competition quickly came to an end for him, as he lost to Japan’s Shoichiro Mukai<\/strong>, (runner-up in the 2019 World Championship) in the 2nd round. <\/p>\n\n

Aiming for Paris 2024<\/h2>\n\n

Since this wonderful adventure, R\u00e9mi Feuillet has another goal in sight, the Paris Olympics in 2024 <\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

The now experienced judoka will be doing everything in his power to secure a place at these Olympic Games, which will be held in one of his two favourite countries, France. He starts 2022 with a fine bronze medal<\/strong> in the -90kg class at the African Championships<\/strong>, and is now ranked 38th<\/strong> in the IJF rankings. <\/p>\n\n
