But what does it mean? Why the IJF standard? We explain everything.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>To ensure fair competition, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ijf.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>the International Judo Federation<\/strong><\/a>sets standards for all equipment used in international competition.<\/p>\n\n<p>At present, it&#8217;s the presence on your Judogi of a <strong>red-rimmed label<\/strong> showing the IJF logo that indicates that it meets current standards.<\/p>\n\n<p>Since 2015, kimonos have been softer and lighter. According to the previous standard, to which a Judogi such as the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fightingfilms.shop\/produit\/kimonos\/kimono-superstar-original-920-gr-fighting-films\/\">Superstar <u>Original<\/u><\/a><\/strong> corresponds, kimonos were hard to grip and heavy to wear. This made it easier to get his opponent to let go and thus lengthened the Kumikatas phases.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"198\" height=\"227\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fightingfilms.shop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/ijf.jpg\" alt=\"IJF logo\" class=\"wp-image-8239\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">The IJF kimono<\/h2>\n\n<p>With <strong>the new standard<\/strong>, the IJF wanted to make judo more spectacular by promoting offensive judo. It&#8217;s a way of reconnecting with a more artistic form of judo, closer to a Japanese aesthetic in the quest for Ippon. The weight of an approved kimono is therefore between <strong>650 and 750 gr\/m\u00b2<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<p>Finally, the kimono must have certain <strong>reinforcements<\/strong>, such as on the shoulders, chest, armpits, knees and side openings. The jacket must be woven in <strong>Sashiko<\/strong>, i.e. rice grain. Approved belts are made of <strong>cotton<\/strong> only. They have between 8 and 13 stitching lines and vary in size from 4 cm to 4.5 cm, with a thickness of 4 to 5 mm. <\/p>\n\n<p>Black belts cannot have white lines, for men or women. These should be <strong>20 to 30 cm from the node<\/strong>.
