Buying a judo kimono represents quite an investment, as it’s a piece of equipment that will stay with you for months or even years. To make sure you make the right choice, let’s find out how to choose the right size for your judo kimono. <\/p>\n\n

There are a lot of brands around martial arts and judo. Each brand offers judogi that don’t all fit the same. In this article, we’ll show you how to choose the ideal size for your Fighting Films judo kimono. <\/p>\n\n

The main rule for choosing the right judogi size<\/h2>\n\n

At Fighting Films, we offer several ranges of judo kimonos, all of which have one thing in common. They cut fairly large and shrink very little in the wash (around 2%). All our judogi ranges except Hajime and Red Label vary in size from 5cm to 5cm<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

example: <\/em>Superstar 750 judogi<\/a> available in 145-150-155-160-165-170-175-180-185-190-195-200 cm. Red Label and Hajime sizes vary from 10cm to 10cm. <\/p>\n\n

We advise all our customers to choose a kimono 5 cm below their size<\/strong>. If you’re 1m70<\/strong> tall, opt for the 165cm<\/strong>. With our experience and knowledge of our kimonos, we can assure you that this is the right method to use. <\/p>\n\n

From 180cm upwards<\/strong>, we offer two different cuts for certain kimonos. The Regular fit<\/strong> RF and the Slim fit<\/strong> SF. Both judogis are the same size, but in the stomach area<\/strong>, the Regular fit is equivalent to the size above<\/strong>. For example, for a 185cm, the Regular fit will have the same dimensions as a 185<\/strong> SF, except that in the belly area, it will have the dimensions of a 190<\/strong> SF. <\/p>\n\n

Choosing the right kimono size for your child<\/h3>\n\n

Kids grow up fast, and it’s not always easy to know how to dress them! Our Hajime and Red Label judo kimonos are more suitable for children and teenagers. They are available in 10 cm and 10 cm<\/strong> sizes. Unlike adult kimonos, we advise you to take the size corresponding to your child’s size. This is to compensate for the rapid size changes your children can experience. For a 118cm child, opt for a 120cm<\/strong> and not a 110cm.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

Taking care of your judogi<\/h3>\n\n

Our Fighting Films judogi have different compositions, which implies slightly different care techniques. Some judogi shrink a little more than others. The Red Label<\/a><\/strong> and the Black Label<\/a><\/strong> are made from 100% cotton<\/strong>, as cotton shrinks more when washed, unlike the Superstar Original<\/a> and Superstar 750 judogi<\/a>. <\/strong> <\/p>\n\n

If your judogi is made from 100% cotton<\/strong>, we advise you to wash it at 30\u00b0C<\/strong> maximum to limit the effects of shrinkage. All cotton and polyester<\/strong> kimonos can be washed at higher<\/strong> temperatures. Polyester limits fabric shrinkage. <\/p>\n\n
