Over the weekend of November 5-6, the French Judo 2022 1st Division Championships were held at the Palais des Sports in Toulon. A look back at an emotional weekend.
The Pontault-Combault team at the rendezvous
1 year after Manon Urdiales won the -48kg category, the Pontault-Combault judoka was eagerly awaited by her rivals. After a fine start to the competition, she unfortunately lost out to the Golden Score in the quarter-finals.
Another member of the Pontault-Combault club, Laura Haberstock, accompanied by her magnificent kimono, won the -70kg category! First big result for the 21-year-old, who shone this weekend! She scores 1 point with a magnificent Ippon Seoi Nage, which her opponent can’t catch up with.
The young Alsatian finished on the top step of the podium after a very fine competition. She conceded just one point all day, in the quarter-finals. We hope this fine performance is just the beginning for this future great champion!
Pietri finally wins the French title
In the boys’ category, it was the great Loïc Pietri who came out on top in the -81kg class! The 2013 world champion overcame his rivals to claim his first national title. After 3 world medals and several European ones, he finally won a title at the French championships.
This first-place finish means automatic qualification for the Paris Grand Slam, which takes place from February 5 to 6! We’re hoping he’ll follow up his success with a 3rd Grand Slam medal.
